DrillBit took part in PubliCon 2026, held on 10 August 2026 at FICCI, Federation House, New Delhi. Convened by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) under the theme "Copyright, Research Integrity & Publishing in the AI Era", the conference brought together publishers, researchers, legal experts, and technology providers from across India's scholarly publishing ecosystem, with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) as knowledge partner.
The day's agenda examined the questions AI has pushed to the front of the publishing industry — how copyright holds up when models are trained on published work, how research integrity is verified when text can be generated on demand, and what safeguards publishers and institutions need as both move forward.
DrillBit's Presence
Jayanna Belavadi represented DrillBit on the conference panel, joining fellow panellists Nidhi Gulati, Ritesh Kumar, Hafsa Ahmed, and Ruchika Malhotra for a discussion on safeguarding research integrity in the AI era.
The panel drew on DrillBit's work with Indian universities and publishers, where similarity checking and AI content detection increasingly sit side by side in the same editorial and thesis evaluation workflow — a practical view of how integrity checks are being applied before publication rather than after.
